Storage Tank Hydrotests Took Place at -50 ° C

During the winter months of 2017, at Yamal LNG, the first LNG plant in the Arctic Circle, the hydrotests of nine storage tanks took place at -50 ° C , where GAMA Industry was as REGA JV responsible for the engineering coordination, manufacture and installation. Since the use of glycol in economic terms was not suitable, hydrotesting of tanks was carried out by using insulated tarpaulins, heaters, heat meters, pipe insulation and thermal monitoring materials during the tests. The operation was successfully completed by REGA JV in accordance with GAMA Industry’s analysis and research results and all the necessary precautions were taken. A similar operation performed in the same way was not found in the literature and therefore is assumed to be performed for the first time.
